This site is located in the outskirts of Observatory Hill at the University of Virginia. Within this valley formed by the curve of the road, I am creating a center for visiting scholars as well as current educators/students. The space within is delegated for a library for disparate objects, residences, classrooms, cafes, and studying locations. The goal of the structure is to both connect and immerse academics into the unique site that is Observatory Hill.

There are three main courtyards that are defined by the sloped elevation of the topography and their relationship to the main building. The main entrances that lead into the center are strategically placed at the primary intersections of the site and the pre-existing conditions. This will allow for a direct flow of circulation through the site and the connection of the proposed living-learning center to the rest of the university.
